A review of the literature reveals that very little has been written about interventions for fathers. Well-articulated theoretical perspectives are absent from many of the writings on fatherhood interventions. Furthermore, only a handful of intervention approaches
have been subjected to evaluation or rigorous outcome studies. Given the
paucity of literature on working with fathers, it should come as no surprise
that many practitioners ponder how to work with fathers. Clinical and
Educational Interventions with Fathers attempts to address this gap
in the professional literature by bringing together a wide range of authors
who have developed, implemented, and evaluated interventions for fathers.
Dr. Vivian Gadsden, Director of the National Center on Fathers and Families,
has written a chapter entitled, "Research and Practice on Fathers in High-Risk
Families: Exploring the Need and Potential Areas for Collaboration." The
list of contributing authors also includes James L. Furrow, Anderson J.
Franklin, Tommy Davis III, Geoffrey L. Greif, Charles C. Humphrey, Mark
Toogood, Glen Palm, Ravis Grant, David Dollahite, Brent A. McBride, Thomas
R. Rane, Wade F. Horn, Anne P. Mitchell, Jaipaul Roopnarine, Meera Shin,
Tracey Lewis, Ed Pitt, and Neil Tift. For more information, or to order

Press web site by title and author.
