  • Rally for Minimum Wage Boost

     The National Council of Churches, the Center for Community Change, and ACORN will sponsor minimum wage rallies in four states during the week of June 27th. If you’re in Arizona, New Mexico, Michigan, or Ohio, you can get involved directly. If you live elsewhere, you can still get involved – learn more online.

  • National Eating Disorders Conference

    The Eating Disorders Coalition for Research, Policy, & Action is about to take a historic step forward. Participants in a June 29-July 1 conference in Washington, D.C. will write a "dream bill" for eating disorders and present it to Congress. The goal is to end discrimination against people with eating disorders and to provide adequate federal support in treatment, research, and prevention. (DADs is an EDC member.)

    Registration is now open. In addition to the conference at Holiday Inn on The Hill, the EDC will host its 5th Annual Lobby Day, a Congressional Briefing, the 2005 EDC Awards Dinner, and the first State Advocacy Summit.   • NIDA Blending Conference: “Smart Practice, Practical Science: Blending Treatment & Research

    Date: June 6 - 7, 2005

    Location: Miami Beach, Florida

    Audience: Drug treatment counselors, social workers, health care providers, criminal justice staff, marriage and family counselors, public health workers and clinicians who treat individuals with drug abuse or addiction problems, and researchers interested in drug abuse and addiction issues.

Description: As in other fields of medicine, a gap exists in the drug abuse treatment field between clinical practice and scientific research. Smart Practice, Practical Science: Blending Treatment and Research provides an important opportunity for clinicians and providers to interact with the developers of empirically supported treatments in skills building workshops focused on treatment implementation.
